I’m a recent grad, majoring in sales/marketing, what’s the best way to get into my field?

As I said, Im a recent grad with a concentration in sales and marketing. I need to get my foot in the door but the position would have to have at least some type of salary or compensation other than commission. I heard about Edward Jones and other financial planning companies…What would be the best way for me to get my career started?

The best way to get your foot into the door would be to find various marketing seminars, conferences, local meet up groups of similar professions within the same field of interest.

Once you locate and join these groups participate in them by going to them and networking with others there. Only professionals who are passionate about the industry and where it’s going show up to these kinds of events which in turn makes it look good on your resume when you join to put down.

Before going to these meetings be sure to make contact cards which have your contact information on them such as a profession email, name and contact numbers.

Attending these seminars or groups you will note that there are people from all different industries within the same marketing/sales space as you which will provide you with an additional insight as to what industry you may find interesting.

Be sure to communicate and discuss about opportunities with the members there when networking time is provided.
